Applied Kinesiology can determine health imbalances in the body’s organs and glands by identifying weaknesses in specific muscles. Stimulation or relaxation in these key muscles allows an Applied Kinesiologist to diagnose and resolve a variety of health problems.

Applied Kinesiology aims to:

  • Determine patient health status and correlate findings with standard diagnostic procedures
  • Restore postural balance, correct gait impairment and improve range of motion
  • Restore normal nerve function
  • Achieve normal endocrine, immune, digestive, and other internal organ functions
  • Intervene early in degenerative processes to prevent or delay pathological conditions

Visiting an Applied Kinesiologist involves patient history (including diet and lifestyle), as well as muscle testing. Unlike general Kinesiology the focus of this therapy is on the many different muscle tests done in a session of treatment.

Homeopathy is suitable for the whole family, especially for babies. It is safe and gentle and very effective for all types of health problems.

The most asked question is “what is homeopathy”? Homeopathy is a method of treatment which stimulates the body’s own healing processes in order to cure illnesses. Homeopathy is based upon the discovery that a substance is small does can alleviate symptoms similar to those it causes in higher doses. The phrase “like cures like” is often used to describe a basic concept behind homeopathy. The remedies are extremely diluted so that there are no toxic effects. The remedies are made from plants, minerals and other natural substances. A detailed case study is taken and every detail of a person’s life is important, not just the symptoms in isolation and a remedy is prescribed determined by the totality of the symptoms.

Integrative Fascial Release is a form of Somatic Bodywork. The myofascial is utilised to create a somatic approach allows for a differing relationship with the body. Myofascial surrounds every muscle fibre, every muscle group, creating the space through which muscles move in relationship to one another. When muscles glue or adhere to one another, function is impeded and the structure of the body suffers. IFR focuses upon three myofascial releasing methods: autonomous nervous system release, movement and mechanical releases. Treating holistically and three-dimensionally, treatment approaches for physiological dysfunctions utilizes deep tissue remedial techniques along with direct osteopathic approaches that focus upon the autonomic nervous system. This combination has been extremely successful for all sorts of soft-tissue disorders.

What the eye reveals! The iris is a map to the inner health of the body.

Iridology is the study of the iris, or coloured part of the eye. The iris reveals changing conditions of every part of the organ of the body. Through various marks, signs and discolouration in the iris, nature reveals inherited weaknesses and strengths. Iridology cannot detect a specific disease however it can tell an individual if they have over or under activity in specific areas of the body.

Iridology is generally safe, non-invasive and painless. It is not a treatment therapy but rather a diagnostic tool used to detect underlying signs of developing disease. The goal of Iridology is therefore to recognise health problems at their earliest stages and to suggest ways to keep disease from developing.

The Iridologist will examine your eye with a slit lamp, penlight or magnifying glass.

Photographs of the iris may also be obtained with a specially designed camera. The examination and consultation should generally half an hour.

Have your iris photos taken and interpreted by our experienced iridologists. Iridology is part of a consultation with your Naturopath or Herbalist or short consultations are available.

Jin Shin Jyutsu®• harmonising body, mind and spirit
• relaxing calming and healing
• restoring the body’s natural ability to heal itself

What is Jin Shin Jyutsu?

Jin Shin Jyutsu (JSJ) brings balance to the body’s energy, which promotes optimal health and wellbeing, and facilitates our own profound healing capacity.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs 26 ‘safety energy locks’ along energy pathways that feed life into our bodies.  When one or more of the paths become blocked, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonise the complete path of energy flow.  Holding these energy locks in combination can bring balance to mind, body and spirit.A gentle art, practised by placing the fingertips (over clothing) on designated ‘safety energy locks’ to harmonise and restore the energy flow, helping to reduce tension and stress that accumulate through normal daily living. For those of us addressing existing stress or health disharmonies, or for those simply wishing to participate actively in maintaining health, harmony and well-being, Jin Shin Jyutsu is a powerful tool available to all.Jin Shin Jyutsu is a valuable and energising partner to conventional medicine to help the body cope with medical treatment and aid the healing process.

The Lymphatic system is our front line of defence in fighting infections, detoxifying the body and transporting metabolic wastes, excess water, bacteria and toxins out of the body. The Lymph glands (at neck, armpits, groin, etc.) are connected by a broad network of vessels which transplant the fluid. Muscular movement is required to move it, as there is no “Heart” to pump it. Lymphatic drainage massage aids the movement of lymph and is particularly useful when the body is overloaded with toxins. It is also highly recommended for those prone to and recovering from sore throats, colds, infections, on-going tiredness, excess fluid, low immunity, swollen glands and also for the physically inactive. Lymphatic drainage is indicated after the removal of lymph glands (such as in breast cancer) as the lymphatic system often needs help to treat and prevent the build up of fluid. The massage usually includes the whole body and is at times gentle but deeper massage may be required in areas where lymph flow is blocked by muscular tension. There is a feeling of wellbeing immediately after the massage as the nervous system has relaxed and the toxins begin to move out of the body.

Rolfing Structural Integration, or Rolfing as it is more commonly known, was devised by Dr Ida P Rolf, as a holistic system of soft tissue manipulation and movement education. It is an approach to healing that deals with the way the body’s structure affects its function.

Rolfing aims to realign the body by using deep pressure and stroking massage techniques to stretch shortened and tightened myofascia back into shape. With treatment, the myofascia becomes softer and more flexible, restoring its natural balance in relation to muscles, tendons and bones. With this change of myofascia, the practitioner evokes a more normal movement, enhancing a more natural flow of energy. Practitioners use their knuckles, knees, elbows, or fingers to create pressure that manipulates the myofascia, releasing deeply held tension. Patients are usually treated on a massage table and will be appropriately unclothed. Education is also an important part of the treatment, to increase the patient’s awareness of body structure.

Research has demonstrated that Rolfing creates a more efficient use of the muscles, allows the body to conserve energy, and creates more economical and refined patterns of movement. It is a beneficial treatment for people who have a history of injury whereby the minor injuries are beginning to interfere with their everyday lives. Some problems for which it would be suitable are:

  • Whiplash
  • Poor Posture
  • Chronic Pain
  • R.S.I.

A full Rolfing course involves 10 sessions of 60 to 90 minutes each, however this can vary depending on what the client is after.

Super Pulsed Cold Laser Therapy is used for the treatment of pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders.

The laser therapy targets scar tissue and can soften its fibrotic nodules. This helps restore local circulation allowing nerves to regenerate for a more complete recovery.

When the Cold Laser is placed over the injured area, light energy is absorbed. This action stimulates the damaged cells to increase their energy production which is used to transform the damaged cells back to active again.

Many people have reported significant relief after 4-6 treatments. Depending on the severity of the injury, complete tissue repair can take up to 12-15 visits.

Super Pulsed Cold Laser therapy is a non-invasive, painless and safe way to treat pain and inflammation.

Western Medical Herbal Medicine is still the first choice in many cultures, being successfully used for thousands of years. Herbalists prepare unique treatments, after consultations with clients that will include discussions about lifestyle, medical history and nutrition. Western Herbalists use only whole plants or plant parts in their preparations. Clients may be treated through the use of teas, capsules and tablets, extracts and tinctures, essential oils and various other herbal preparations.

Herbs contain a large number of naturally occurring chemicals that have biological activity and compounds from plants that are used to produce reliable pharmaceutical drugs. Herbalism does however support holistic treatment, with prevention of disease being as important as the treatment of a particular illness. Another benefit of choosing herbal medicines is that a profound transformation in health can be achieved, without the danger of the inherent side effects common in drug-based medication.

Conditions which may benefit by herbal medicines, include a wide range of minor ailments such as:

  • Upset stomachs
  • The common Cold and Flu
  • Headaches, menstrual problems
  • Sore muscles
  • Skin rashes and so forth.

Other conditions that respond well to herbal remedies are:

  • Digestive disorders such as Peptic Ulcers
  • Colitis and Irritable Bowel Syndrome
  • Rheumatic and Arthritic Conditions
  • Chronic skin problems such as Eczema and Psoriasis
  • Anxiety and tension related stress
  • Bronchitis and other respiratory conditions
  • Hypertension and allergies.

An initial consultation with a western Herbalist, will take from 1 to 1 ½ hours and several follow up sessions are usually required. Herbal products are an important part of health care but self prescription is not advisable, as even the safest herb can interact with other medications. A consultation with a professional Herbalist is recommended.
